The Heroes of the Story:

Sir Lucien Trueblade - Steve Jones

Human Knight of Solamnia (Fighter/Cleric/Knight)

From the time I was old enough to carry my own longsword, I knew I would become a Knight. It was never actually mentioned, merely understood. I come from an old and noble family which has sent its' sons to support the Knighthood ever since Solamnus founded the order. From the first I was tutored in warfare, tactics, diplomacy and politics. Taught only that which was necessary for a future knight to know, my parents hired the brightest, most prestigious, tutors that money could buy in order to train me for my future profession. And at the appropriate age, I was sent to Solanthus to become a squire like my father before me and his father before him.

While I was attending the academy, I discovered girls. Most notably, the daughter of the High Justicar, the ranking Knight of the Rose. Nor was I alone in this discovery, for others of my age noticed her beauty and vied for her attention. My only serious rival was a fellow squire who was determined to win her heart and steal her away from me. He has never forgiven me for winning this contest, for in the end it was I who won her favor and her heart, but not without cost.

It was not long after that I had won the heart of the one that I loved that the dark knights over took the city of Solanthus. The High Justicar and his family were lucky enough to make it out of the city alive as was I. I was fortunate enough to have been given the honour of, being a member of the Honour guard for the High Justicar at a private banquette he was holding for his wife's birthday. I believe that he wanted to see the boy the that had caught his daughter's eye. When the attack came it was hard and fast. We weren't prepared as well as we should have been. The captain of the honour guard knew that I wasn't ready for what was coming and he ordered me to get the High Justicar and his family out of the city no matter the cost. The rest of the honor guard would do what they had trained to do. I knew in this time, in this place my honour, my families honour was being tested and I could not fail, I would not fail.

I can not tell what happened next for the next few days were all a blur, though I do remember this. The first night we camped after leaving the city, the only other surviving member of the honour guard found me huddled near a cook fire and said only a few things that will stick with for the rest of my life. "You fought bravely tonight young knight and you have done your family honour. He, is proud of you." With that he walked away. I knew who 'he' was and for that I knew I was on the right path in my life.

A few days later I was summoned to the command tent to speak to the High Justicar. He told me there that only a Knight of the Rose would marry his daughter. His families honour would settle for no less. He then talked about a dangerous mission for a single knight to undertake. It would take time to complete and it would require working at the every limits of what the "Oath and Measure" would allow, and because of this he could order no Knight to under take it. He would need someone willing to risk their very honour in hopes to gain back everything that the dark knights took from us.

I said that I would do this for him in hopes that I would one day gain the honour to be a Knight of the Rose and ask for his Daughters hand. "Kneel Squire Lucien." As I knelt before him he drew his sword and touched both of my shoulders with it's tip. "Arise Sir Lucien, and go forth with my blessing and this token of my daughters favour." With that he handed me a handkerchief embroider with a single rose. I still carry that token with me and I will always carry it. For her father decreed that only a knight of the Rose would obtain his permission to wed his daughter. I carry on my person at all times a token of her favor, her handkerchief tied around my temple under my helm.

Upon my admittance into the knighthood I received a summons to come home and visit my father, who had been grievously ill these past few years. Upon entering our castle, I was told to meet him immediately in the family armory where I went immediately. "Take and wear this with pride, my son", pointing to his personal suit of plate mail, which rested in a place of honor in the armory. "It has served me well for many years, may it serve you equally well. Also reach above the armor and take my sword, and may you win many glorious victories with it, my eldest son. Carry the Trueblade name with dignity and serve the knighthood with honor."

So I left my ancestral home, eager to fight for good in the world, my path as yet laid out before me. Only the gods knew what adventures I would embark upon in my quests. quest to return to the Solomnic Knights that which was lost to them.

"Admiral" Edder es-Sumar - Mike Clark

Minotaur Wizard of High Sorcery

I was born on the Island of Kothos to the noble family es-Sumar. This of course makes me a Minotaur but I'm sure by now that you can see that for yourself, but what you might not realize is that I'm small for my race. Even now I am only 7 feet tall and a mere 300lbs. The fact that was born a runt brought shame to my family. As a race the Minotaur are proud of physical stature. Though I made up for what I lacked in brawn with brains. Early on my parents realized that I was smarter and learned more quickly than the others and they decided to take advantage of this. I was sent off to the scholars of our people and I began to learn the more sophisticated arts. I was learning magic. Before longer my people were traveling to the land of Ansalon to rule over the land once inhabited by the elves. My family was given the honor of settling in this new land and helps to rule, on an administrative level. I was returned to my family at this time as there was little more that my teachers could show me

Not long after arriving in Sagasanti, my family was visited by a Red Robe mage. He had heard that for the first time in many Decades a Minotaur mage had left the island of Kothos. He wished to meet with me, I don't know what he saw in me that day but he stayed with my family for a year or two in an effort to try and teach me the old magic. It was very similar to that which I had learned from my previous mentors and I learned quickly. Just as suddenly as he had arrived, he was gone. A few weeks later I received a summons to come to a specific location and I was to come alone. The signature was that my mysterious Red Robed Mentor. I spoke to my family about it and after some time it was decided that I would be allowed to go alone to this location, alone as instructed.

At that location, my mentor had brought several other Wizards - all Wizards of the order. That day I experienced what was known as the Test of High Sorcery. Though I won't retell that tale, it is enough to say that I passed. Several days later, I recovered from the ordeal, and was presented with the robes of my station - a Wizard of the Red Robes. As a special gift for being the first Minotaur to take the test in a very long time I was gifted with the ancient tomb of the Miniature Magus.

I remember very little of my actual test save for one thing that will be with me always. I met a Druid during the test yet he wasn't really there. But what made this druid really special was that he was a Kender. He gave me a pouch with seeds inside. These seeds helped me finish the task at hand.

I would later meet this very same Kender again later and unfortunately he wouldn't remember our first meeting fore he was never really there. Somehow I still have that pouch I was given, it contains no more seeds but the fact that I have it still tells me I have a very special connection to that Kender.

I won't bore you with the rest of our story together, but maybe someday I'll tell you about how we met Lucien and Gabriel, my other two friends."

Filtch Littlebig - John James

Kender Druid

It started with a storm. A storm and a lightning strike. The village was on fire and people were screaming for him, but there was also a bunch of wind, rain, hail and interesting little things blowing through it all. Nearby villagers were shouting for help, and rushing to save the village, but to him there was only the storm.

That's when Filtch decided he liked weather. It didn't really care what else was going on around it. Great cities would rise and fall, people would start wars and others would end them, but all in all, the weather would still be there.

Shortly after, the storm died down, and the villagers chased him away, assuming that since he was standing around watching it, that he must have had something to do with it. Didn't they realize that he'd been watching the storm all along? What did they think he could do, control the weather? Hey. That would be cool. Didn't that farmer he met last month mention that there was a fellow who could do that? I think I should go find him.

And with that, Filtch was off down the road. It wasn't until about a month later that he ended up at that farmer's once again. Purely by chance really. He'd tried to explain that the chicken has followed him, really it had, he would never think of taking a chicken. Chickens make up their own minds. He had a conversation with one and it told him. When the farmer heard that he said that Filtch sounded just like that druid who lived in the wood.

Hey, wait. I was looking for that fellow. Asking where he lived, Filtch headed off down the trail to find him. Great, the farmer thought, just what the world needs. A Kender Druid.

Filtch explained to the druid, Dodds, that he really liked animals, and that a chicken had talked to him, and that plants and things were pretty neat too. With a resigned sigh, after much pleading, and many, many questions, Dodds took him in, and began instructing him in the ways of nature, how to find things in the woods to eat, how to determine direction, and most importantly, how to deal with animals. Just when it looked like Dodds would finally lose his patience, he sent Filtch on a task, take this pouch and plant one seed a day, and pray for that seed to grow. He was to come back in a year, once he had finally emptied the pouch.

Filtch has been back three times now, having lost his pouch, or trading it for something neat, or forgetting where he put it. Dodds keeps giving him another pouch, and sending him back out.

And that's how it's been for the past couple of years. Wandering around, planting seeds, and having a generally good time.

Rothak Hammerfell - Rob Bakker

Dwarven Fighter

My name is Rothak Hammerfell from Thorbardin. 50 years ago left the halls of Thorbardin to search for the Dragon Flail of Axel Slateshoulders. My Thane asked for volunteers to find this weapon so that we could defend ourselves from the great dragons that had come to Krynn. This weapon was lost to us many generations ago.

I was given very little information as to where that I might find this weapon but I was told that I would find it if my heart was pure and conviction strong. Every great adventure begins with a single step and so I made ready to begin mine. I was about leave the great gate of Thorbardin when the High Cleric of Reorx approached and gave me an ancient scroll. He said that it had been passed down from High Clerist to High Clerist and it was said that Reorx gave it to the first High Clerist. He asked that I only read it on next night of the eye. In the light of the 3 full moons.

It was hard for me to wait that long but I was able to do so. When I first opened the scroll there was nothing written. But slowly words began to appear.

I not afraid of the water, but when your armor weighs more than you do, you don’t relish your time aboard ship. I have spent many years searching for those in the scroll. From time to time I think that I have found them but every time I soon learn that they are not the ones that I am looking for. I recently received word that Minotaur has a boat crewed by Kender. If that wasn’t strange enough he’s a Red Wizard. Last I heard they were in Palanthas. I hope to pick up their trail there. Hopefully they will still be there when I get there.

The Heros Unite - By Gabriel

Lucien and I had been traveling for some time. For the most part we tried to avoid the larger cities where we knew that the Dark Knights were in power, as I was sure that if I was captured that it might be possible to link me back to the guild in Palanthas and Lucien being a Solamnic Knight, it wouldn't be good for him to be captured either. It seemed that the closer we got to one of these cities the worse the weather got as if Nature were taunting us to venture into one of these cities and try and avoid capture while trying to stay warm and dry.

It was on of these nights that we heard what sounded like Bandits trying to rob children, but these were no bandits and they were no Children. It seemed that a small patrol of Dark Knights had happened upon a camp of Kender having diner in the rain. Quietly watching from where we were it was quite comical to see these brave knights attempt to deal with these kender. That is until the killing began. At first it was just one knight then others joined in quickly.

I knew that Lucien wouldn't sit by and watch the slaughter of innocent people even if they were Kender. But just as I signaled to him that I was ready to back him up, there was a thunderous boom and one of the knights fell will a large smoking wound in his chest. It was this that I notice an enraged Minotaur across the Kender camp. It appeared that Kender had more than on ally this night. By Spell, Steel and Hoopak the dark knights were slain to a man. It seems that the Minotaur had befriended a Kender druid and with their add Lucien and I were able to keep the majority of our possessions. Although I still think that I'm missing a few steel.

I'm not exactly sure just how it is that it happened but some how Lucien, Filtch (the Kender), Edder (the Minotaur) and myself found ourselves traveling together after that night. It wasn't long before we all became good friends, yes even the kender. As much as I hate to admit it, I've grown fond of the little guy and I would even risk my life to save his.
