Journal Entry 1 - "All Washed Up"

After disembarking from our memorable journey, we made our way to this Inn that the captain had put us up at. The town had a rustic feel to it, much like that of socks that had been through too many washes. Well, maybe not that bad... The inn, right... It was a small establishment, with no actual flooring, it matched the town just nicely. Though I do enjoy a soft mattress and bath, it at least was better than staying up all night working on the ship... Like the last few days.

After settling the question of who gets the beds, we scattered for some sleep. Apparently we were not alone in the building, as the other bedroom was occupied by some dwarves who were in town. More on them later. We rose for the morning, and went about getting some food. Though I thought the soup that the innkeeper served was crude, it seemed to do the trick. Little did I know how bad it really was.

After breakfast, we decided to go drop in on the dwarves we'd heard about. They were immersed in building a new chapel, as the old one had burnt down. They were men of faith, though from a faith we'd not heard from before. Newly declared by the king, (INSERT RELIGION HERE) was gaining popularity fast. It seems that the king is sick, and thinks by creating a religion, that it might speed his recovery. Personally I think that's a little extreme, though I've never held much in religion past Drucilas at least...

After some discussion we parted with the dwarves, and checked in with the Ship Captain. During conversation it came up that there was a market town north of here. We agreed to try to find materials to repair the ship.

So we retrieved our horses and set off for Richland, the location of the trading post. At the end of the ride on the second day, we happened upon a lone traveler who had stopped for the night. Quick introductions led to the fact he was a traveling man, who lived where he set down for the night. He hitting it off well with Garrek, as they shared a love of song and story.

During our evening with the man, we learned a bit about the King of the land. It seems that everyone is required to learn a tale of a song, and to sing it to all who might hear. It was titled The Witch Of The Westmorland. The King figured that the answer to his illness lies in finding this Witch, and bringing her to him.

After an uneventful night we rode on. We made Richland near dusk, and settled into the first (and what seemed to be the best) inn we came upon. A three story building, which seemed to segregate by race. Though I am used to this kind of behavior back home, it seemed a bit out of place in the land of man. Regardless, we stabled our horses, and booked our rooms and bathed for the night. We joined our compatriots downstairs, as it seemed Garrek was up to his usual "entertainment".

While his performance brought about his usual gathering of room keys, it was at least pleasurable entertainment. Ok, quite good even. Though Drucila seemed to be enjoying it a little too much... While I try to encourage her to accept other races more, this Human is below her station...

After the performance, Garrek met with a rather attractive female in one of the back curtain tables. Though he would have us think otherwise, she pulled him aside to discuss a quest she has for us. The King is looking for groups to contract to find the Witch. With the intent to return in the morning with our answer, they parted ways and we turned in for the night.

Journal Entry 3 - "Checkin out the Place..."

Ok, at the conclusion of last game, we've managed to gather the following information. Some of this is only backed up by circumstantial evidence, but we're adventurers, not policemen; circumstantial is good enough for us.
  1. The Church of the Feather Ball has sealed all but the outermost section of the city.
  2. TCotFB will not let anyone see the king, even possible healers.
  3. At night, the inner city is patrolled by (at the very least) giant skeletons and shadows. There didn't appear to be any evidence of living activity.
  4. By day, the inner city is filled with living people.
  5. The location of the king is unknown. We are not even certain that he is alive.
  6. The Captain of the guard doesn't like TCotFB, and is not allowed access to the inner city.
  7. The cleric that the guide claimed to be his boss tested positive for evil, the captain of the guard tested positive for good. The cleric was moderate (level 2-4), and the guard was faint (level 1-9).
  8. It is in fact TCotFB that is seeking the witch (it's not necessarily the King that wants her found).
From this, I think it's fairly safe to say that TCofFB is some sort of dark cult that needs destroying. Extrapolating on that hypothesis, the king, whom they claim to be guarding is in fact their prisoner.

I think the general consensus is that we will perform another (our third) reconnaissance mission into the inner castle area. This time with an emphasis on discovering the location of the King, and planning an attack pattern for when we try and rescue him. While that's going on, Garrick could do some mundane information gathering. Things I would like to know are:

Journal Entry 4 - "Up a Squad, down a Squad... Attack pattern Drucilla!"

  1. Is there already an underground against TCotFB?
  2. Does anyone know anything about this witch other than the song? Someone had to come up with it in the first place, there might be more information out there on the subject.
  3. What is the church's actual goal/agenda? We'll probably not find this one out with gather information checks, but I'd really like to know.
  4. Is the King dead, prisoner, or the secret leader of TCotFB?
Personally I would like to perform another Divination before we assault the castle, but after the reconnaissance mission. On that subject, I would like some one to pony up the money for that spell, since I spent all of my money on the boat repair mission.

Anything else? Any more suggestions? This is the forum for it, so speak now.
